Powell Auction & Realty LLC is offering seven custom-built, lakefront homes and three lakefront homesites for sale at an auction set for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 11.

Although all the custom-built homes have different features, most have granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances, vaulted ceilings that soar to 16 feet, French doors and large windows to let in the light and views of the lake, large decks and patios, stacked-stone fireplaces and hardwood and marble floors.

Most of the homes offered have custom docks, while some have 2- to 2½-acre wooded lots with 300 feet of lake frontage offering privacy to buyers.

“This sale marks a great opportunity to buy at your price,” says Steve Jones, owner of Norris Partners.

One of the homes, on a 2-acre wooded point lot on the main channel, has more than 230 feet of frontage on Norris Lake. This house, the builder/developer’s personal custom home, has six bedrooms, four full baths and two powder rooms. “This home has magnificent Norris Lake views from every room,” Jones says.

The home’s great room, which measures 32 feet by 26 feet, has a wood-burning, stacked-stone fireplace, 10-foot-high wood ceilings and hardwood floors. The custom-crafted kitchen has stainless-steel appliances and Enkeboll hand-carved accents. The home has two master bedrooms with master baths, 50 eight-foot French doors or windows and hardwood or tile floors throughout. Both the 52-foot by12-foot deck and the 52-foot by 12-foot concrete patio overlook Norris Lake.

The three-car, finished garage has heat and air, while the driveway has enough room to park eight cars. The two-slip boat dock with boat and jet-ski lift has a second story party deck.

(bullet) For houses and trails on Trails End Lane in Tanglewood Shores-Sharps Chapel, Tenn., the auction will begin at 10:30 a.m. and conducted at Lot 75 on Trails End Road. An open house will be held 4-7 p.m. June 29 and 30 and July 6, or make an appointment for a showing by calling 865-992-1100.

Directions: Take Highway 33 (Broadway) north through Maynardville. Once over the Highway 33 Bridge, turn left on Sharps Chapel Road, then left on Old Valley Road and left on Tanglewood. Continue left turns to stay on Tanglewood, then turn right on Trails End.

Fishing News On Norris Lake January 27 2011

The lake level on Friday, Jan. 21 was 1,000.16 feet and expected to remain steady. Surface temperatures range from 39 degrees on the upper end to 42 degrees at Loyston and Norris Dam. On the coldest days, some of the large, protected hollows may frozen over to a thickness of about an inch. Some sections of the main channels above points 15 and 32 may also be frozen on cold mornings.

With the exception of a small increase in smallmouth bass action, there has been little change since last week’s report.

Crappie fishing is slow. The headwaters of the larger creek embayments yielded a few crappies. Those fish were caught 15 to 20 feet deep in the main creek channels and steep shoreline brush on small doll flies, mini tube jigs (red/white, blue/white) and 1/32 oz. hair or feather jigs tipped with minnows. In Sycamore Creek and Davis Creek, fishermen had some success while trolling the bottom with mini tube jigs and doll flies tipped with minnows.

Smallmouth bass action has been moderate. The fish have been holding close to the shoreline on cloudy, breezy days and dropping to 15 feet deep on sunny days. Rocky shorelines and main channel points produced best.

Float ’n fly rigs, with a 3/16 or ¼ ounce doll fly set about 10 feet deep, have been productive on cloudy days with a slight breeze. Other lures that smallmouth bass have shown an interest in are Finesse and Senko worms, small lizards, tube jigs and Silver Buddies.

Largemouth bass action has also been moderate. Small plastic worms and tube jigs are the best largemouth baits for Norris this time of year.

Striper fishing is fair. Before the arrival of bad weather, stripers had gone as deep as 60 feet, and were hard to catch.

Walleye fishing is slow right now.
